The Wine Price Methodology
Our price methodology to price wines held by wine funds is based on prices that pass through different verification processes. We use auction prices to calculate the price that presents the exact wine´s value on the valuation date. These data is also used for our benchmark indices.
The verification process is divided in different steps.
In the first step all collected row data will matched with the 474.000.000 wines in our database. After all new prices are verified on trading relevance, trading volume and bottle sizes, only wines that are traded minimum seven times are mentioned in the database. In the next step all prices will be checked automatically by algorithms on their plausibility. Therefore peak and bottom prices will be only mention until they are confirmed by more than two auctions.
In a second verification process all prices will be checked twice manually in our “four –eyes principal” That means that all prices will be check twice manually.
In the last step all prices will be matched with our database and published on Wine-Stocks.com
Wine Price Database daily updated
With its daily updated database Wine-Stocks is in the position to offer valuations on a daily basis. By request of valuations on a monthly or quarter basis Wine Stocks use average prices of the last month for its valuation.
In the case that Wine Stocks need to do valuations of wines not listed in its database, we developed special advanced search engines, that frisk all significant merchant internet sides that means prices of more than 500.000 of global wine merchants. Prices will be collected and used to build average prices of the wines, these average prices can be established for special regions e.g. Europe, Australia, US, or globally.
Additionally we use our access to special online wine cellars and their price information, to recheck all prices on plausibility.
