Famous names from Bordeaux and Burgundy but also from Champagne and Rhone shaped the term in England and the USA; because these countries were the main purchaser for fine wines. Today fine wines were produced all over the world. New wine regions were conquered like Nappa Valley, Bolgheri,Stellenbosch, Marlborough, Barossa Valley, Oregon, Washington, Maipo, Mendozo, Priorat as well as Neusiedlersee, die Ahr and Shanxi to cite just few names that international wine connoisseurs come more and more across and attract a great deal of attention.

Of course wines from Mouton Rotschild, Chateau Lafite, Petrus, D'Yquem, Cheval Blanc, Chateau Latour and Haut Brion as well as Romanee Conti, Henri Jayer, Leroy, Armand Rousseau, Meo Camuzet, Comte de Vogue, Coche Dury , Leflaive and may more are still legions. But there are numerous vineyards and wine makers that shift in the focus of wine connoisseurs.
