Langton's Wine Auctions 2013-10-30
The wine auctions at Langton's in collaboration with Christie's
from 2013-10-30, could be a turning point for the global development
of fine wine prices in 2013.
For more than 24 months, the performance of Bordeaux is rather
negative. Also Burgundy - in the last 12 months "just" a
performance of slightly above (+5 %).
Germany is by far at the top of the value of wines.
With over 45% performance in the last 12 month German Riesling is
more than a trend and becomes indispensable as a fixed value of a
diversified wine portfolio.
The German Fine Wines are getting much more better and the
International wine market has apparently understood .
Even German Pinot Noir’s have taken a giant leap towards
the top of the world and should be on a wish list for wine lovers
wine funds and investors .
Even in the last few weeks, many signals were pointed to a recovery
but at the Langton's wine auctions, prices rose very strongly.
All indexes are in positive and Bordeaux achieved
( +7 %) in the black .

Of course the Christmas-Season in full swing, but only that can’t be
the basis for this run.
The auction volume at Langton’s was very high, 2480 different lots were
offered. As always, about 50 % of the lots were sold.
The trading volume was 13,235 bottles , the price volume
amounted to $ 944.723
At Langton’s there were always many lots offered, the
sales quotas were somewhat lower, the lots therefore were also
offered several times a week.
Wine prices, shown on the website, are results not per lot, but per bottle.
The average wine value of a bottle of wine was $ 72
Also in this wine auction some wine price records were set .
In all, saved at wine stocks, 26 mio historic wine prices, was
never achieved a higher value for the following wines
( wineries , vintages and bottle sizes included).

The French wine region Bordeaux reached, with (6,63 %) of all offered
wines, the fourth place and Burgundy (6,37%) got the fifth place.
Wine auctions at Langton’s have always a focus on Australian Wines
Most common on demand was the
Penfolds winery from South Australia, followed by
Grosset, Wynns Coonawarra both South Australia,
Albrecht Lucien from French Elsass and Seppelt, Victoria.
The most sold wine was
Grosset Riesling Polish Hill vintage 2004 750ml,
followed by Penfolds Bin 389 1998 750ml,
Grosset Riesling Polish Hill Vintage 2001 750ml and
Albrecht Lucien Riesling Reserve 2009 750ml.
Wine lovers and wine investment
studied the younger vintages:
2009, followed by the vintage 2010, 1998, 2004 and 2001 were the
leaders.
In the majority ( 97.51 %) were auctioned 750ml bottles
then 1500ml , 375ml , 1000ml and 3000ml bottles
Quantities to ( 25.44% ) of 2 containers , ( 21.57% ) single bottles
( 14.72% ) 6 owc ( 11.33% ) and 4- pack ( 10.04% )
of 12 containers owc .
